Optione engine optimization
This is how an engine optimization works
Nine key steps are involved in optimizing a vehicle’s engine. Each step requires extensive work, so we won’t dive into the details. Once the optimization is complete, you’ll receive a summary report detailing the process, along with diagnostic results from before and after the optimization on your phone.
The entire process typically takes a full day. We take our time to ensure the best results and thoroughly evaluate the optimization to make sure it meets your expectations.
1. Expectations
Before we begin, we ask a few questions to understand what you expect from the tuning. Our goal is to tailor the end result to your specific needs.
2. Test Drive
We perform a test drive to check for existing issues that could impact the optimization. This helps us evaluate performance improvements after the process is complete.
3. Diagnostics
A full diagnostic scan is performed to detect any error codes that might interfere with the optimization. If any issues arise, we assess whether proceeding with the optimization is advisable.
4. Downloading file
We connect to your engine control unit (ECU) and download the original engine file. A copy is sent to OptiOne’s optimization team.
5. Tuning
Your engine file is optimized based on extensive test data for your vehicle and engine configuration, and also customized to match your specific driving needs.
6. Uploading file
Once the optimization is complete, the updated engine file is sent back and uploaded to your vehicle’s ECU.
7. Second Test Drive
We take the car for another test drive to ensure the optimization delivers the expected results. If the technician feels adjustments are needed, the file is fine-tuned further, and the car is retested.
8. Final Diagnostics
A final diagnostic check ensures no error codes related to the optimization appear. Once everything is confirmed, we notify you that your vehicle is ready for pickup.
9. Documentation
The entire optimization process is documented, and your original engine file is securely stored in case you ever want to revert to factory settings. All documentation is prepared, and your optimized vehicle is delivered back to you.

What Happens During an Optimization?
When we fine-tune the software in your vehicle’s engine control unit (ECU), we follow a multi-step process designed to achieve optimal combustion, precise power delivery, and a smooth, consistent power curve across the entire RPM range.
Our team of optimization experts are continuously refining optimization files and testing them on a dynamometer to ensure the best possible results. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Combustion
Most vehicles have uneven combustion and inconsistent power delivery. By improving combustion efficiency, we create a smoother and more stable power output. This not only enhances performance but can also contribute to better fuel economy and a more balanced power curve.
Step 2: Power distribution
At this stage, we don’t simply increase power—we optimize when and how it’s delivered. The goal is to bring torque and power in earlier and sustain them longer by extending the power curves.
We also ensure that torque and power curves transition seamlessly. There’s no benefit to having high torque and power if they aren’t distributed evenly, leading to dips in performance at mid-range RPMs. This fine-tuning is what truly enhances your vehicle’s performance while also providing the potential for fuel savings.
Step 3: Power boost
Now, we boost torque and power to give your engine that extra punch. While power can theoretically be increased significantly, we take a careful approach to maintain smooth performance, ensuring that the curves remain stable and well-balanced. Just as importantly, we never push beyond what your engine is built to handle—our optimizations prioritize both performance and long-term reliability.
