What is an optimization?
With real engine optimization, we access your vehicle’s engine control unit (ECU) and update the original software.
Simply put, we unlock the engine restrictions and fine-tune your engine performance. Some automakers offer similar upgrades, but these are typically more expensive and provide a smaller power increase, after all, they’d rather sell you a new car with a bigger engine.
What Power increase to expect?
The power boost you’ll experience depends on your engine type and its design.
Turbocharged & Supercharged Engines – These engines benefit the most from optimization, typically gaining 20-30% more power. The forced induction system allows for significant improvements in both horsepower and torque.
Naturally Aspirated Engines. Since they don’t rely on a turbo or supercharger, the potential gains are lower, usually around 7-15% in horsepower and torque. However, the difference in throttle response and overall drivability is often very noticeable.
Larger engines may gain more horsepower in raw numbers, but the percentage increase can be smaller. Here’s an example:
- 1.6L Engine – Stock 80 HP → Optimized 100 HP = 25% power increase. Even though the horsepower gain is “only” 20 HP, the overall impact on acceleration and performance is significant.
- 3.0L Engine – Stock 400 HP → Optimized 475 HP = 75 HP gain, but in percentage terms, this is only a 19% increase. While the absolute power boost is much higher, the relative difference may not feel as dramatic as on a smaller engine.
In many cases, smaller engines feel the biggest difference in daily driving, even if the numerical horsepower increase seems modest. More responsive throttle, improved mid-range torque, and a smoother power curve all contribute to a more engaging driving experience.
